Sometimes I impulse buy guitars that speak to me, and this is no exception. My friend Michael picked up a EC-1000 in See Thru Green and brought it over for a setup and pickup swap. Upon playing it through my rig, I was blown away by how good it sounded and played. I shouldn't have been, considering it is a $1200 guitar (new). I immediately set out to find one myself.

One thing to not about these, is that around 2018ish they began making these with the smooth neck joints, vs the large set neck Gibson style neck joints they used in the past. They also had various models that used various pickup combinations. The sound that I fell in love with was the one that Michael had in his guitar when he first got it, which included the Seymour Duncan Custom 5/Jazz pickup combo. It turns out, in the 2018-2019 era, that is what they came with, usually, in the See Thru Green/Purple finishes.

I nearly bought a burl topped model, but it sold a bit too fast. It would have had the SD Pegasus/Sentient pickup set. This one showed up online for what was the absolute cheapest EC-1000 (Deluxe or not) online, and it was only a 3 hour drive away. I bought it and picked it up that weekend, and it has been a daily player since. It also looks like the 2018 model didn't have a coil split pot, whereas my 2019 does have coil splitting, which is a nice option.
