Comments: This guitar is pretty cool. I am a big fan of Steve Vai, but buying (more specifically affording) a real JEM is something that never really interested me. When I saw the JEMJRs in these wacky Neon colors, I had to have one. They normally go for between $400-$500, even used, but I got this one for around $330, because it was a “B-Stock” item. They didn’t really describe the reasoning in the ad, and since I work on guitars anyway, I figured anything that needed to be fixed, I could do. I couldn’t find any finish or physical damage, but what I did find was a decently warped and uneven fretboard. The first 5 frets were WAAAY higher than the rest, so it was buzz central until I could file down the frets. Now it plays pretty well, though it still has a little bit of buzzing. I added the green knobs and purple switch tip, as well as painted the lions claw cavity purple, because it has to look ridiculous. I love it.
